About Us
 

The Hawthorne Village PS Library Learning Commons strives to offer a vibrant collection.  The library collection houses materials for curriculum work and recreational reading. The books found in the library include picture books, beginner chapter books, chapter books, non-fiction books, reference, comic books, graphic novels, Caldecott Award Winners, and Newbery Award winners.

 

The goal of the library is to ensure all students and staffs are effective users of ideas and information so that they become life-long learners. As well as, provide students with an environment that supports and encourages all students to read. These goals will be accomplished by:

· providing access to materials in all formats.

· providing instruction that allows all students to achieve success.

· motivating interest in reading, viewing and using information and ideas in various formats.

· working collaboratively with staff to design strategies to the meet the individual needs of all students.

FAQ

How long can a Kindergarten student sign out a book?

A kindergarten student can sign out one book for one week

How long can grades 1-8 sign out a book?

If you are in grade 1 -8, you can sign out two books for two weeks.

What if I don't return my book or it gets damaged?

Accidents happen! If your book gets damaged or you lose it, you will have to pay a replacement fee. You will not be able to sign out a book until you pay that fee.

Can I reserve a book?

Elementary schools are not set up to reserve particular books for students. That happens in highschool! If you are looking for a special book, just go and see the Librarian.
